The following bills will be up for discussion on the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee on April 20, 2004 in Room 623 LOB at 12 Noon.

 

Several of these are bills that we have been following and we need to be sure that the committee members are aware of the position we have on these particular bills.

 

 

A465  Cook (MS)            Environmental Conservation Law TITLE....Prohibits any person whose license to hunt, fish, trap, or guide has been suspended or revoked in any U.S. jurisdiction or Canada from getting a N.Y. license THE NYSCC SUPPORTS

 

A 2684-B  Tonko   Same as S 905-B  MARCELLINO        Environmental Conservation Law TITLE....Prohibits the possession, sale, barter, transfer, exchange and import of wild animals as pets

A6412  DiNapoli    Environmental Conservation Law TITLE....Lowers the level of intoxication required to be considered to be hunting while intoxicated from .10 to .08 THE NYSCC OPPOSES (all activities should be grouped together with a level that is the same.)

 

*****A 10052      DiNapoli   Same as S 6878  KUHL  Environmental Conservation Law TITLE....Requires every person hunting for big game to wear a minimum total of four hundred square inches of solid or patterned fluorescent orange THE NYSCC OPPOSES (Please see attached memo of opposition)

 

**** A 10188-A  Stringer   Same as Uni. S 6446-A  PADAVAN   Environmental Conservation Law

TITLE....Extends the prohibition on canned shoots of non-native big game mammals to additional conditions THE NYSCC OPPOSES (Please see attached memo of opposition)

 

A10818  Rules (DiNapoli)    Environmental Conservation Law TITLE....Creates a voluntary contribution mechanism on all hunting and fishing licenses to allow monies to be deposited in the venison donation account

As well we have received word that Assemblywoman Deborah Glick will be hosting a press conference on April 20th in the press office at the Legislative Office Building in Albany. The purpose of the press conference is to promote her prohibition on wildlife contest bill
